UPDATE: Robbery at liquor store, shooting in West Bay and fire at Camana Bay

Police responded to two incidents involving shots being fired around 9:05 pm last night 30/6/13. The first was near Poinciana Lane, Watercourse Rd.  No one was reported to be injured.

A second incident reported minutes later in the vicinity of Super C’s restaurant also located on Watercourse Road, West Bay.  A 56 year old male was the victim of a gunshot wound in that incident but is said not to be life threatening.

An incident room has been set up at the West Bay Police Station. Police are appealing to anyone who were in those areas around the times of the incidents to contact DS Morrison at the West Bay police Station at 649-3999.

Burglar arrested after crashing vehicle through Liquor Store

Around 02:33 hrs. on Sunday (30), 911 received a report that the alarm for  Jacques Scott Wines and Spirits  at the Country Side shopping centre (Savannah) had been activated.  Uniform officers attended the location shortly afterwards and found that the front door had been smashed open by  what appeared to be a vehicle, due to the type of debris  left behind.

An APB was aired for Officers to be on the lookout for a vehicle fitting the description of the debris left at the scene. At 0428 hrs. an off duty Police Officer spotted  the suspect vehicle heading towards George Town. The vehicle was located by Uniform Officers in the Vicinity of Caribbean Securities with one male occupant, who was arrested on Suspicion of Burglary.  A search of the vehicle also revealed an assortment of alcohol.

The male suspect was found by the Police with numerous cuts and bruises and as a result was admitted to the hospital. He is expected to be released shortly from the hospital.

Shooting reported on Water Course Road

Around 9:05 pm Sunday (30) 911 received a report that shots had been fired near Poinciana Lane in the vicinity of Super C’s.

One male was reported to have been shot in the arm.

Police and Emergency units were on on the scene.

No more details received.

Camana Bay Fire

CITN/Cayman27 reported a fire on Sunday (30) at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink at 8:20 p.m.

No injuries reported
