Registrations closing for Cayman Islands TEDxUCCI: Bridges

Time is running out if you want to take part in TEDxUCCI 2018.

This year’s theme for TEDxUCCI is “Bridges” and this live event will be held on 10 March 2018 at the UCCI Campus from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The theme was selected because we all have bridges in our lives. They may be people, or places, or life events. We may have to build them. Or cross them. Or maybe even burn them!

Presentations will be made by a Cayman-born Olympian (Ronald Forbes), a communication expert (Joy Baldridge), a change agent (Linda Hayles), a Caymanian who is leading a movement (Andre Gooden), a UCCI scientist and mother (Antoinette Gayle), a life and leadership coach (Chanda Glidden), and a civil engineer (William Schonberg). Activities will include bridge-building contests, photo ops, and more.

Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to register at www.TEDxUCCI.ky by March 3rd. The ticket price is $10 for students and $25 for adults, which includes lunch, snacks, and a limited-edition lunch bag.

In part, it’s the exclusive nature of TEDx events that makes them so interesting. As TEDxUCCI’s licensee and curator Dr. J.D. Mosley-Matchett notes, “This is our fourth TEDxUCCI and each year it gets better. The event is back in UCCI’s Sir Vassel Johnson Hall this year, so there will be lots of room for activities and fun. So, go online and get your ticket as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”

What kind of bridges have you encountered? Come to TEDxUCCI 2018 on March 10th and bridge the gap.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference
provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self- organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or fewer) delivered by today’s leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED’s annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, and made available, free, on TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
TED’s open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from thousands of volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed; the annual million-dollar TED Prize, which funds exceptional individuals with a “wish,” or idea, to create change in the world; TEDx, which provides licenses to thousands of individuals and groups who host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
