Provenance Properties Cayman Islands recently donated art prints from the National Gallery collection, part of its recent outdoor exhibit at Camana Bay, to the students of John A. Cumber Primary School in West Bay, to help further their art education.

The exhibition, titled “Tropical Visions”, was coordinated in partnership with the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands and went on display in Camana Bay in October 2020. It featured works from 10 local artists, including Debbie Chase van der Bol, David Bridgeman and Maureen Andersen, and each piece depicted a Cayman Islands landscape that celebrates the islands’ natural beauty.

The outdoor display frames that were used for this and previous exhibits have also been donated. Camana Bay donated these frames to the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands to use. “Showcasing public art is important to us as it helps further promote awareness of our culture in the Cayman Islands,” said Jeff Wight, Dart’s senior property manager for Camana Bay. “The exhibits we have hosted on the Paseo in partnership with the National Gallery have been a vibrant part of this for the last year, and we are happy to continue to work with the National Gallery through the donation of these frames for their use in future exhibits.”

The prints had been previously displayed in an outdoor art exhibit in Camana Bay, sponsored by Provenance Properties Cayman Islands and organised in partnership with National Gallery Cayman Islands. The art frames from this outdoor exhibit were also donated to the National Gallery by Camana Bay.

“We are delighted to have partnered with Dart on this exhibition programme and for having had the opportunity to share artwork from our collection in public spaces at Camana Bay,” said Natalie Urquhart, director at National Gallery of the Cayman Islands. “Further, the generous donation of these frames will enable us to continue presenting outdoor art exhibitions into the future.”

Access to art and arts education for youth is paramount to encouraging the future of creativity the Cayman Islands, said Ms. Urquhart. “At the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, connecting the next generation with artists and art experiences is one of our primary goals. We are excited to see these that reproductions from the National Collection have found a home at Sir John A. Cumber Primary School in West Bay, thanks to this donation by Provenance Properties and our artists approving the sharing of their works.”

“We are grateful for the donation of this beautiful artwork. We are looking forward to beautifying our school and exposing our kids to local art,” said Sir John A. Cumber Primary School’s Principal Jovanna Wright. “We have a lot of students who are very creative, and this is just one more way we can foster this creativity and help them to expand their artistic horizons.”

“We are delighted to be able to support the next generation of Cayman’s artists and art appreciators with this donation,” said Provenance Properties’ Jo Gammage. “As the exclusive affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate in the Cayman Islands, we look for ways to celebrate the heritage of Christie’s auction house and its intrinsic link with the art world. This donation, encouraging children’s love of art and their interest in attending and perhaps participating in future art exhibitions, is a meaningful way for us to continue to share the value of art and culture.”
