Ogier named top offshore law firm in Hedge Funds Review Service Provider Rankings

ECO bag 500x500.jpg Ogier for CSR Review (TN)Ogier in Cayman has announced that US fund managers participating in the 2013 Hedge Funds Review Service Provider Rankings have ranked Ogier number one among competitors for a third straight year.

The 2013 Hedge Funds Review Service Provider Rankings reflect the opinions of more than 1,000 industry participants including asset and investment managers, single-manager hedge funds and funds of hedge funds.

Ogier in Cayman’s recognition under the 2013 Hedge Funds Review Service Provider Rankings follows its win in March 2013 for the best offshore regulatory advisory firm under the Hedgeweek 2013 Global Awards programme.

Who’s Who Legal’s website recommends 13 lawyers from Ogier in Guernsey and Jersey, which is reportedly more than any other Channel Islands law firm.

The website lists four practitioners in Guernsey and nine in Jersey.

Ogier lawyers recommended for Guernsey include Simon Davies and William Simpson for private clients, William Simpson for private funds and Nick Gamble for capital markets and structured finance.

Ogier lawyers recommended in Jersey for private funds include Simon Dinning, Nick Kershaw, Mike Lombardi and Tim Morgan.

Recommended for private client work in Jersey are Sally Edwards, Steve Meiklejohn and Nigel Sanders, with Edward Mackereth, Nigel Sanders and Nick Williams being recommended in Jersey for asset recovery.

Ogier wins best offshore law firm prize at AsianInvestor 2013 Service Provider Awards

Ogier has been awarded ‘Best Offshore Law Firm of the Year’ in the AsianInvestor 2013 Service Provider Awards. Ogier has won twice in the three years that the awards series has included an offshore law firm category.

The award recognised the technical expertise and client service levels of the firm’s Hong Kong office and its brand in the investment funds industry (especially in Hong Kong and Japan).

Nicholas Plowman and senior associate Kate Hodson collected the award on behalf of the investment funds team at the black-tie gala awards dinner held in Hong Kong.

Private Client Practitioner recognises Ogier’s Meiklejohn and Le Cornu in top 50 list

Ogier has announced that partners Steve Meiklejohn and Philip Le Cornu have been included in Private Client Practitioner’s Top 50 Most Influential list, which includes lawyers, accountants and independent advisers across the UK and offshore financial centres.

Meiklejohn is a partner in Ogier’s trusts advisory group. He is heavily involved in advising all of the firm’s major trust company clients on trust and commercial issues as well as on regulatory matters.

He has expertise in advising on the establishment and administration of complex structures for high-net-worth clients looking to create comprehensive estate plans for their personal and business assets.

Le Cornu is a partner of the Ogier Group and a group director within Ogier Fiduciary Services. He has global responsibility for the private wealth businesses, which comprise the private wealth, probate, family office and investment teams in Jersey, Guernsey, Cayman, the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.
