A North Carolina police chief has grudgingly resigned after posting a fiery Facebook rant which called the Black Lives Matter movement “nothing more than an American born terrorist group.”

Surf City Police Chief Mike Halstead was asked to resign or be fired for the Sept. 3 post which slammed President Obama and government agencies for failing to “put a stop” to the group — particularly those who cry for violence on the cities’ streets.

“The Government and blacks would not tolerate the White Supremacist group to march through the streets and call for the murders of a race of people and a group of public servants,” he wrote on his personal Facebook page.

Halstead’s post came five days after participants in a Black Lives Matter march in St. Paul, Minn. made news after they were heard chanting that police should be fried “like bacon.”

Those cries came hours after a Houston sheriff’s deputy was fatally gunned down while pumping his gas.

“I agree there is a race problem in this country. It is not brought on by police officer doing their sworn duty,” he continued before spreading blame on several office holders and public figures including Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Eric Holder and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

Malstead, who has held a police badge for the last 35 years, went on to argue for the creation of a movement where “all lives matter” — not just those who have a certain skin tone.

The 35 year police veteran has since expressed upset and outrage over his termination while also apologizing for any offense it may have caused.

His overall message was met with indifference, however.

Town Manager Larry Bergman ordered Halstead’s leave after determining that his expression overstepped his position as a public servant.

“He put that information out, that was intended for his friends and colleagues and peers, but it was a public statement and there are people that were offended,” Bergman told WIS-TV.

Some members of the public, rallying outside the police station, have since express outrage over the decision, particularly it having been made without their notice or request for input.

There he described himself as having been “thrown under the bus for expressing my 1st amendment rights” and having to “beg for a 60 day severance to feed my family.”

“I want to thank all of the folks in Surf City for your support. It was my pleasure to serve you. Thank you to my officers for your dedication, I will miss everyone of you. I would like to apologize to my family for letting you down. I also apologize to those I have offended, that was not my intent,” he stated.

“I guess I will learn to eat beanie wienies for a few months. I love you all.” ON
