New Copy of CFA Curriculum available at GT Library

CFA Donation to GT Library 2013For over ten consecutive years the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute has offered local societies a complimentary set of the CFA curriculum for use in their communities.  The CFA Society Cayman Islands chose to donate the books to the public library for accessibility to all residents in the Cayman Islands.

On Friday, 18 October 2013, the CFA Institute and CFA Society Cayman Islands presented the 2014 edition of the CFA curriculum to the George Town Public Library.

Government officials led by Minister for Education, Employment and Gender Affairs (EE&GA), Hon. Tara Rivers, were on hand to accept the material, which spans all three levels of the study programme that leads to the CFA certification.

Minister Rivers thanked the CFA Institute as well as the CFA Society Cayman Islands for the annual donation which allows persons studying for the CFA examinations access to the most up-to-date material.

The Minister commented that the material was a valuable resource to present and potential students seeking the CFA certification. “I encourage all persons interested or already working in the financial sector to visit the George Town Library to review the course content and see if the CFA designation is something they might be interested in pursuing,” she stated.

Dr. Ashvin Vibhakar the Senior Advisor and Executive Sponsor for Future of Finance with the CFA Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA was visiting as the key note speaker at the Cayman Investment Forum 2013 sponsored, amongst others, by the CFA Society Cayman Islands.  Dr. Vibhakar praised the CFA Society of the Cayman Islands, the Ministry of Education, Employment and Gender Affairs and the public library for their on-going investment in the financial services industry:

“We are delighted with government support to make available state of the art educational material for the financial community of the Cayman Islands and take part in advancing the skill set of finance professionals”, said Dr. Vibhakar.

President of the local society Laren Gillespie, C.A., CFA, commented that the society was very pleased to continue its tradition of placing a new copy of the curriculum with the library each year.

He added: “In addition to being a reference for those pursuing their CFA designation, we believe investment students and professionals will also find it a useful resource to keep up to date on the extensive body of knowledge associated with the CFA programme.”
