13 September 2022 – The National Trust for the Cayman Islands (NTCI) has been approved by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) America as a 501(c)(3) partner. This approval facilitates prospective US donors’ support of various NTCI environmental, historic and educational programmes through their tax- exempt gifts via the CAF America portal, with the NTCI as the grant recipient. All grant submissions are approved by the CAF America Board of Directors prior to being awarded.

It is through this portal that the NTCI has received grants to support the Blue Iguana Conservation, COP26 conference and most recently a $100K donation towards mangroves and the education programme.

“This is a momentous achievement for the NTCI to be able to have 501(c)(3) partners to facilitate donations towards our programmes. We have gone through quite an involved process to be approved by these organizations,” says Annick Jackman, Executive Director. “We are especially honoured because this allowed for significant donations in memory of Judy Innes from the Cresap Family Foundation to our organization after the family spent time learning about our programmes.”

“The National Trust would like to acknowledge and thank the Cresap Family Foundation for their generous donation of $100K in memory of Judy Innes. The funds will provide an important contribution to the Land Reserve Fund and the Educational Programme of the National Trust” says William Innes, Life Member and supporter of the NTCI, and in whose late wife’s memory the donation was made.

Charities Aid Foundation America is the second 501(c)(3) partner as the NTCI currently has an agreement with Mangrove Education in the US for donations for mangroves preservation.
