Netherlands-based Oceanco breaks ground in super yachts

The recent launching of the superyacht Equanimity is a historical moment in the annals of yacht-building history. According to its manufacturer, the Netherlands-based yacht builder Oceanco. The 91.5-meter luxury vessel is the first in its category to be fully Passenger Yacht Code-compliant.

Oceanco worked in conjunction with Lloyd’s Register and the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry to assist in the development of the strict code of standards of the Passenger Yacht Code (PYC).

The Chinese owners of Equanimity, which was jointly crafted by Andrew Winch Designs and the Azure team at Oceanco, plan to travel the world extensively in their new superyacht. The grandiose hull accommodates 26 overnight guests and a full crew of 28 staffers.

Oceanco calls its latest superyacht perfectly well balanced, explaining the etymology of the ships nomenclature. The Latin-origin word “equanimity” means a balanced spirit. The grandiose superyacht is equipped with a helipad, a spa with a complete gym, and a beach club, which includes a 20-square-meter swimming pool. Onboard watercraft includes two Zodiac Fast Rescue RIBs and two custom-built tenders by Hodgdon. Equanimity 3

The Equanimity, with its oriental-styled interior design, has a rigid steel hull and a lightweight super-aluminum construction base. Its maximum cruising speed exceeds 20 knots.
