Man’s body found washed ashore in Barkers – deceased named

At 2:07 pm Sat Sep 27 2014 the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) reported they and ambulance services had responded to a call of the body of a male washed ashore in the Conch Point Rd., Barkers, West Bay.

Police were able to confirm that the male was NOT any of the three males that were reported missing earlier this month.

Later the same day at 7:54 pm the RCIPS reported:

“Around 10:51am this morning (Saturday 27th) Emergency Services received a call of the body of a male along the shoreline in the Barkers area, West. Bay. Police and ambulance responded. However he was pronounced dead at the scene by the pathologist.

The RCIPS can now name the deceased  as George Burnis Ebanks, age 79 of Boatswain Bay, West Bay.

The victim left home to go fishing this morning between 6:30-7:00am. An investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.

The family has been notified.
