Sean Latty has stepped down from his role as managing director of Columbus Communications Jamaica (Flow) to return to Digicel Jamaica in the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Latty will have responsibility for the Technical, Customer Care, Distribution, Customer Experience and Facilities departments.

Latty spent most of his telecoms career with Digicel, but took the top job at Flow in June last year.

Latty started with Digicel at its inception in 2001, working in Jamaica and the Caribbean region until 2013. His Digicel roles included operations director for Digicel Cayman Islands, country manager for Digicel St. Kitts and Nevis and most recently country manager for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Sean is a Digicel veteran with well over a decade of solid telecoms experience and we are very excited to welcome him back into the family,” said Barry O’Brien in a news release. “This is indeed a positive thing for us, as with Sean’s track record, we have no doubt that he will help to take the Jamaica mobile operation to the next level.”

Robinson achieves her legal dream

Shernett Robinson has now joined the law fraternity with her own law firm, Shernett Robinson and Associates based in Christiana, Manchester, while maintaining her part-time media practioner role.

By becoming a lawyer she has achieved a life-long dream. “I always wanted to go into law, even as a child” Robinson said.

Originally from Malton, near to Christiana, Robinson is now working primarily on land matters, she says.

A trained teacher, Robinson worked in the classroom from 1986 to 1995, and ventured into media in 1993. Her intention, however, was always to become a lawyer – though she says she got “sidetracked on the way”.

In 2012 Robinson got back on track and earned her LLB from the University of Technology in Montego Bay. In 2014 she graduated from the Norman Manley Law School at the University of the West Indies, Mona. She also holds a diploma in teaching from Shortwood Teachers’ College in Kingston.
