Grand Cayman, June 19, 2023 – The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) advises the public of the early closure of the George Town Landfill on Monday, June 19, 2023, the Public Holiday to observe His Majesty King Charles III’s Official Birthday Celebration.

The George Town Landfill will close at 1:00 pm on this public holiday and there will not be reception of derelict vehicles or scrap metals on this date. Operations will resume on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Meanwhile, hours of operation will remain as usual at both landfills in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

The 24-hour drop off site at the entrance of the George Town Landfill will remain open to facilitate the disposal of small quantities of household waste.

Regular garbage collection and recycling operations will be as normal throughout the Cayman Islands.
