Island Heritage: Drive for Charity

420812_449598405123339_12267235_nFor over 15 years, Island Heritage has been committed to improving the quality of life in the communities where their customers and employees live and work by enriching arts and culture, the community, health, sports, youth and education initiatives.

More than just writing a cheque to charity, however, Island Heritage has come up with a creative and innovative way to give back to the community where everyone can get involved and help raise funds for much needed causes.

In 2012, Island Heritage proudly launched CharityDrive and it has become an exciting annual event that takes place over three days each spring. During CharityDrive, Island Heritage will donate up to CI$35,000 in direct donations to three local charities, giving as much as $10,000 to each with a bonus of $5,000 to the charity with the most social media support.

521934_449598238456689_2067374799_nThe amount of funding donated by Island Heritage to each charity depends on the level of participation from the community. CharityDrive is a fun way for the community to get involved and actively support worthwhile local causes.

Here’s how it works:

For each of the three days (April 8 to 10 inclusive), a different deserving cause will benefit from up to CI$10,000 in sponsorship with the chance to earn an additional bonus of CI$5,000.

First, for every car that drives past the Island Heritage Roundabout during CharityDrive, Island Heritage will donate $1 to that day’s charity.  Traffic counters will be placed on the road to count each car that drives by.

While it isn’t possible to make multiple clicks on one day, you can visit every day of CharityDrive to support each of the three charities.

A third, easy way to show your support and raise money for CharityDrive is on Twitter.  Every mention of @charitydriveky will result in another $1 donation by Island Heritage to the chosen charities. One mention per day will be counted.

The more people who get involved and join the ride; the more money that will be raised. So mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 8; Wednesday, April 9; and Thursday, April 10, for a charity drive down the Esterley-Tibbetts Highway. Don’t forget that you can also click or tweet!

Past charities of CharityDrive have included Meals on Wheels, Blue Iguana Recovery Programme, the Cayman Islands Humane Society, Cayman Islands Red Cross, the NCVO and the Cayman National Cultural Foundation.

The charities selected for this year’s Island Heritage CharityDrive are:

Tuesday, April 8: Cayman Islands Crisis Center

Wednesday, April 9: Cayman HospiceCare

Thursday, April 10: Cayman Heart Fund

With your support, Cayman, we can drive, click or tweet towards helping these charities reach their goals. Please support the Island Heritage CharityDrive and show you love Cayman the roundabout way.
