A group of four Cuban migrants were selected by the Department of Immigration to dismantle the vessel using tools and equipment supplied by the Public Works Department.

As at midday about 80% of the vessel had been dismantled and removed from the beach. The remaining parts are expected to be removed by tomorrow (Saturday, 04 June), weather permitting.

Royal Caribbean apologises over Harmony cruise

Harmony_2From TTG

Royal Caribbean has apologised to passengers about the amount of building work taking place onboard Harmony of the Seas during a pre-inaugural cruise last month.

IMAGE: Harmony 2.jpg

The line received criticism from customers about the level of work still being carried out during the voyage, which departed Southampton on May 22.

Royal Caribbean is also offering all passengers a certificate giving them a 50% discount on the fare for a future cruise booking.

“On a ship of such scale and complexity we were hopeful that all work would be completed in time for our first voyage, however we recognise that there were still simply too many projects being completed during this sailing,” said the company in a statement.

“We offer our sincere apologies to all of our valued customers who were affected by this. The satisfaction of our customers is extremely important to us.

“We are eager to welcome our guests back onboard and to deliver the experience that is anticipated and expected of a Royal Caribbean holiday.”

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister to Discuss International Terrorism and Caribbean Preparedness

unnamed

Thursday, 16 June | 6:00 pm | UCCI Sir Vassel Johnson Hall

Recent international events have posed considerable questions regarding global insecurity.

The multiple manifestations of this encompass radical and extreme religious world views, environmental degradation, food insecurity and the movement of peoples. Of particular urgency is global terrorism.

While it is clear that the Caribbean is not impervious to the reality of international terrorism, it can be argued that the peoples of the region do not know enough of how prepared their countries are.

In the latest installment of the UCCI Distinguished Lecture Series, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves of St. Vincent and the Grenadines explains the nature of this reality, the extent to which Caribbean countries are affected, or might be, and their levels of preparedness. As an important player in CARICOM, the Prime Minister will outline regional plans to counter global terrorism.

Large groups are encouraged to reserve seats as soon as possible as space is limited.
