Cayman Islands motorists advised to exercise caution during Guardians Alive Walk/Run, 6 April

On Saturday, 6 April, Guardians Alive will be hosting their Walk/Run beginning at 6:00AM. The event will begin at the Seven Mile Public Beach and the participants will travel along the Esterley Tibbetts Highway, between the Island Heritage roundabout and the last roundabout before Batabano Road, and then back to Seven Mile Public Beach. The event is expected to end at 7:45AM.

No roads will be closed for this event but officers will be on hand to help ensure the safety of participants. Motorists are advised to exercise caution when travelling in these areas on Saturday morning, and to obey all traffic directions from officers or marshalls.

Cayman Islands motorists advised to exercise caution for Feed Our Future Century Bike Ride

On Sunday, 7 April, Feed our Future will be hosting their Century Bike Ride, beginning at 5:00AM. The event will begin at the Pappagallo Restaurant in West Bay and the cyclists will be riding across the island, to North Side and then back to Pappagallo. The event is expected to end at 1:00PM.

No roads will be closed for this event but motorists are advised to exercise caution and be mindful of any cyclists they may encounter when travelling on Sunday morning.

Cayman Islands Seafarers Association General Meeting, on Tuesday 16 April

The Cayman Islands Seafarers Association wishes to inform all Members that there will be a General Meeting, on Tuesday 16 April at 7:30 PM. in the Seafarer’s Hall, 11 Victory Ave. Prospect.

Buses will be provided from West Bay Town Hall at 6:00 pm”.

A Bus route has been added in George Town, leaving the Public library parking area at 7:00, stopping at Cayman Compass building and the Airport Fosters. The bus is marked Bobo $1 Public transport and is blue in colour, there is no charge.

Cayman Islands Department of Commerce & Investment Closure

The Department of Commerce & Investment (DCI) would like to notify the public that their office will be closed on Friday, 12 April 2019, to facilitate staff training.

DCI will resume normal business hours on Monday, 15 April 2019.

DCI staff apologise for any inconvenience the closure may cause.

Cayman Islands Department of Vehicle & Drivers’ Licensing Closure

The Department of Vehicle & Drivers’ Licensing (DVDL) offices will be closed on Wednesday, 10 April 2019 and Thursday, 11 April 2019 to facilitate staff training.

The DVDL will resume normal hours on Friday, 12 April 2019.

The DVDL would like to take the opportunity to remind the public that online services are available using the online portal www.eservices.gov.ky.

Sincere apologies are extended by DVDL staff for any inconvenience caused.

RCIPS Hosting Community Meeting on Cayman Brac this Thursday, 4 April

The RCIPS is holding a Community Meeting in Cayman Brac this Thursday, 4 April, which will be chaired by Commissioner of Police, Derek Byrne. Also in attendance will be Superintendent of Uniform Operations, Robert Graham; Sister Islands Area Commander, Acting Inspector Kevin Bogle; and Police Spokesperson, Jacqueline Carpenter.

All members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend the meeting, as the Commissioner will be discussing the current plans for policing in Cayman Brac, and is also very interested to hear feedback about policing on the island, and any concerns members of the community may have.

The meeting is taking place at the Aston Rutty Civic Centre at 7:00PM, on Thursday, 4 April.

UPDATE – FOUND: Cayman Islands: 1999 Honda Civic Reported Stolen, 28 March

The 1999 Honda Civic which was reported stolen on 28 March has been recovered by officers in the Prospect area. The below press release can be disregarded.

Police have received a report of a stolen grey 1999 Honda Civic, registration #106 289 which was last seen at about 3:00AM on Thursday, 28 March. The vehicle had been parked on the roadside in the vicinity of Mini Warehouse 2 on Canal Point Drive.

The Mothers’ Union of St. George’s Anglican Church will be having a fish fry on Friday 5 April, starting at 12:00 noon on the St. George’s Anglican Church grounds. Fried fish meal is $10.00 and steamed fish meal is $15.00. Proceeds are in aid of various community outreach projects, including our ongoing support of Maple House.
