Over 700 walkers and runners turned out for the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens (LCTG) Annual Brenda Tibbetts-Lund 5K Memorial Walk/Run, which was held at West Bay Public Beach on Saturday, October 8.

Now a firm fixture on the events calendar, the memorial run/walk is in its 14th year. Organised in memory of Brenda Tibbetts-Lund who lost her battle with breast cancer, this event seeks to raise funds to fight against breast cancer and to promote the importance of early detection as the best protection in this fight. The event also celebrates the survivors of breast cancer and all other types of cancer. A special ‘survivors’ tent was erected on the beach and it was inspiring to see the interaction between the survivors, family members and participants in the walk/run.

Lion Wendy Wiltshire, Chairperson of the BCA Committee stated that she was overwhelmed by the continued support from the public for this event. She gave a special thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers and members of the Lions family who she said made the event the success it was.
