The battle for the Iron Throne among the families who rule the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros continues in the third season of the HBO original series, Game of Thrones. Winner of two Emmys® 2011 and six Golden Globes® 2012, the series is based on the famous fantasy books “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R.R. Martin.  HBO Latin America will premiere the third season simultaneously with the United States on March 31st.

GameOfThrones_E101_04Many of the events that occurred in the first two seasons will culminate violently, with several of the main characters confronting their destinies. But new challengers for the Iron Throne rise from the most unexpected places. Characters old and new must navigate the demands of family, honor, ambition, love and – above all – survival, as the Westeros civil war rages into autumn.

In the Far North, Mance Rayder (new character portrayed by Ciaran Hinds) has united the wildlings into the largest army Westeros has ever seen. Only the Night’s Watch stands between him and the Seven Kingdoms. Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen – reunited with her three growing dragons – ventures into Slaver’s Bay in search of ships to take her home and allies to conquer it.

New cast members for the third season include Diana Rigg as Lady Olenna Tyrell; Mackenzie Crook as Orell; Clive Russell as Bryndon “The Blackfish” Tully; Nathalie Emannuel as Missandei; Kerry Ingram as Shireen Baratheon; Paul Kaye as Thoros of Myr; Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Jojen Reed; Ellie Kendrick as Meera Reed; Richard Dormer as Beric Dondarrion; Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane; Philip McGinley as Anguy;  Tara Fitzgerald as Selyse Baratheon; Tobias Menzies as Edmure Tully; Anton Lesser as Qyburn; Ian McElhinney as Barristan Selmy; Michael McElhatton as Roose Bolton and Noah Taylor as Locke.

New Game of Thrones Trailer Promises Ice, Fire, Bears

By Laura Hudson WIRED

The latest trailer for Game of Thrones is out, and if you’re already on pins and needles waiting for the HBO show’s March 31 debut, this isn’t going to help. It’s full of swordplay, fire, ominous threats, Joffrey being a dick, and a little something for everyone.

The trailer begins and ends with dragons, as Daenerys continues to make power plays across the Narrow Sea with the help of her fire-breathing friends; Jaime and Brienne find themselves locked in a swordfight; Stannis warns (likely, for the first of many times this season) that darkness will devour them all without his incredibly boring leadership, and young King Robb makes battle plans to “take his gold, take his hold” before time runs out. Who’s he? Storm of Swords fans can likely take a guess, but everyone else will have to wait and see.

Oh, and there’s a bear, which likely means a certain scene with two fan-favorite characters lies ahead.
