HBO honors Freedom and celebrates Family Fun with its August features

MonstersMiami, FL – July, 2014 – Next month, HBO brings viewers more reasons to tune in. In celebration of Emancipation Day, HBO will air related programming throughout the day on Friday, August 1st in the Caribbean, with inspiring Hollywood films such as Django Unchained, 42, Red Tails, Sing Your Song, Won’t Back Down, and more.

Then the summer fun continues each Saturday in August with the best blockbuster hits and the premieres of four acclaimed films.

OlympusMONSTERS UNIVERSITY (Saturday, August 2nd at 21:00 hrs.) gives fans a closer look at how the relationship between Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sulley (John Goodman) came to be during their school years at Monsters University. It was there the duo first teamed up, and let’s just say they weren’t always the best of friends. Other talent lending their voices to bring these monsters to life includes Helen Mirren, Nathan Fillion and Alfred Molina, among others. This fun animated film, directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae, will take you through classic situations every college student – and monster – lives through.

In the drama film OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN (Saturday, August 9th at 21:00 hrs.), directed by Antoine Fuqua, viewers witness the North Korean-led guerrilla assault on the White House while secret service agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) tries to stop them. Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Ashley Judd star in this action-packed film that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

From Krypton to the comfort of your home, MAN OF STEEL (Saturday, August 23rd, 21:00 hrs), brings you the latest film adaptation of Superman. Clark is sent to earth Man-Of-Steel-Henry-Cavill-Kal_El-3from a different planet as a child and adopted by the Kent family. He later learns he has supernatural powers, and now the hero in him must emerge if he wants to save the world from an insidious villain. Directed by Zack Synder and produced by Christopher Nolan, the film’s cast includes Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Russel Crowe as Jor-El, and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent, among others.

After the food storm that erupted in the first film and the residents are forced to leave town, CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2 onesheet(Saturday, August 30th at 21:00 hrs.) revisits Flint Lockwood as his idol, Chester V, invites him to work at Live Corp, the company that has been tasked with cleaning up the island. But when Flint realizes that his machine still functions and is creating mutant food beasts – like tacodiles, shrimpanzees and apple pie-thons – he and his friends must return to save the world. Directed by Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn, this exciting animated film brings us the talented voices of Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Will Forte, Andy Samberg, Benjamin Bratt, Neil Patrick Harris, Terry Crews and Kristen Schaal.
