GV60 wINS Best Electric Large SUV at the What Car? Electric Car OfThe Year Awards

  • GV60 secures second award win of 2023 from What Car? after winning Best Electric SUV in January 2023
  • GV60 was assessed in 18 categories including range, refinement and reliability

LONDON, UK, Aug. 30, 2023: The GV60 has received its second award win in 2023 from the team at What Car? with the model taking the best electric large SUV at the Electric Car of the Year awards.

Having won the Best Electric SUV award at the What Car? awards back in January, the GV60 was again commended for its range, ride and refinement at the virtual awards announced online on Wednesday 30 August.

Whilst the What Car? awards in January name the best small and large electric cars, this allows the team to cover off only a small portion of the EV market, so What Car? runs a separate EV focused awards in the summer, naming the best fully electric and plug-in hybrid models across a wider range of categories.

To be judged in the large rather than small SUV category, a car has to be more than 4.4 metres long, with the qualifying models rated in the same 18 areas that What Car? does for all electric cars when reviewing and testing: performance; range; ride comfort; handling; refinement; driving position; visibility; infotainment; quality; front space; rear space; seating flexibility; boot space; costs; charging; equipment; reliability; safety and security.

“With electric SUVs the range, ride comfort, refinement, interior quality and charging are seen as most important, with the GV60 scoring highly in these areas,” commented Steve Huntingford, editor at What Car? “Add in the fact that it also performs strongly in most of the less important areas, and we think it’s currently the best car of its kind.”

“To take one award from What Car? in 2023 is a real achievement for us as a relatively new entrant to the market, but for the GV60 to be recognised twice in one year by this trusted consumer champion is fantastic,” said Jonny Miller, Head of Sales at Genesis Motor UK.

GV60 is the South Korean brand’s first all-electric model to be launched in Europe and is built on the bespoke E-GMP platform, which offers multiple benefits such as boosting efficiency, improving performance and driving pleasure, while also allowing for ultra-fast charging, with a 10-80% charge available in just 18 minutes.
