Global Business Week 2020 challenges participants to thrive, not just survive

BIBA Executive Director, Carmel Haynes
BARBADOS (October 25, 2020) – Attracting global businesses and investors can provide tangible solutions to the economic challenges facing most Caribbean nations as the region continues to grapple with the negative impacts of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on cross-border travel.

This is a key message that BIBA, the Association for Global Business in Barbados, seeks to promote through staging its inaugural Global Business Week 2020 (GBW 2020), which takes place from October 25 to 31, 2020, in Barbados under the theme “Adapt. Evolve. Execute – Lead the Change”.

“Our theme emphasizes the urgent need for individuals and organizations to adapt to the unprecedented shifts taking place all around us, evolve as the environment demands, and execute on strategy by taking action,” said BIBA Executive Director, Carmel Haynes, while adding: “‘Lead the Change’ is a call for stakeholders to take the initiative in stimulating growth and development within their industries and to drive their organizations forward. In that way, all of our economies would benefit as well.”

During GBW 2020, BIBA and its strategic partners will facilitate discussion among participants with the goal of producing action-oriented results and a shift away from a reactionary, coping mindset, to a proactive, solution-driven vision on how to thrive in uncertain economic environments.

‘The Evolution of Global Business’ is the theme of GBW 2020’s flagship event, a virtual conference at which Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, will deliver the keynote address.

The conference is being offered over three days through a combination of live and on-demand plenary sessions and technical workshops designed to engage the imagination and participation of local, regional and international attendees.

Topics that will be explored include:
Digital Nomads, Work-Life Applications from Paradise
New Opportunities in Global Trade: To and From Barbados
Blockchain Technology Is Here to Stay
The Medicinal Cannabis Industry: A New Investment Frontier
Aligning Corporate Social Responsibility with Sustainable Development in Developing Countries
Investment Management for Captives in a Post COVID-19 World

“We encourage all those interested in exploring these timely topics and much more to register for this ‘must-attend’ event,” said Haynes.
