Further charge over fatal crash

A man who has appeared in court in connection with a fatal road crash on Wednesday 30 November is now facing an additional charge.

Patrick Dixon, 31, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving earlier this month and appeared in court on 6 December. He was released on court bail.

On Tuesday (13 December 2011) he was further charged with causing death whilst driving under the influence of alcohol. This additional charge also relates to the crash on 30 November on Esterley Tibbetts Highway in which medical student Richard Martin was killed.

It is anticipated that he will appear in court again on Monday, 9 January, 2011.

Mr Martin 52, and originally from Pennsylvania, USA, died after he collided with another vehicle at the beginning of December.

When Dixon first appeared in court he was released on bail after providing a surety of $10,000, he must continue to live at Lakeside Villas, has a 9pm to 6am curfew, must report daily to police, cannot go within 100 yards of the airport or Safehaven and cannot enter a licensed premises or consume alcohol.

The court heard how Dixon has been on islands for eight years and his wife is in Miami recovering from an illness.
