Community donations ensure that the Freedom United platform is truly people-powered by those who are most invested in ending modern slavery.

We know that times are tough for everyone. If you can, please consider making a small monthly donation to keep us fighting for systemic change.

Thank you for all your work calling out modern slavery. I want to show you how regular support from the community allows us to focus on the difficult topics, without compromise, to expose the truth that underpins the brutality of modern slavery today.

Our work explores solutions to questions like: How can we avoid buying products supporting modern slavery? What guarantee do labels like Fair Trade on products really offer us? Does slavery explain what’s happening in the U.S. prison system?

From hosting a public event on prison slavery in the U.S. to delivering a comprehensive guide on certification schemes, here’s what the Freedom United community has made possible already in 2023.

Help us keep bringing you work like this!
Did the 13th Amendment really abolish slavery? We kicked off Black History Month in February by unpacking the complexities of the prison slavery system in the United States with our excellent panel, Dorsey Nunn, Max Parthas and Sean Kyler. Watch the full event here and share with your networks!

Are labels like Fairtrade the answer to ending exploitation in supply chains?

Have you ever wondered what certification labels on your favorite products really mean? We sat down with experts on cotton, cocoa and seafood to explore what role certification schemes play in improving conditions for workers and communities affected by their supply chains – and if they’re enough.

Our new guide to certification schemesThe Freedom United community has been asking for it and it’s finally here! Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, organic… what do they all mean? And can they guarantee that the chocolate I buy wasn’t made with modern slavery or other major environmental and social harms? Our community has been asking us these questions for a long time, and we’ve finally brought out a comprehensive guide to resolve all your doubts. Read now!

2023 isn’t easy – economic pressures, the climate crisis and hostile policies on migration and trafficking survivors’ rights mean more people are being pushed into taking risks to survive, while exiting exploitation is becoming more difficult. That’s why we need 100 of you to chip in monthly to ensure we can we can plan for the future and put resources towards exposing the truth. If you can, please make a small monthly donation today. Anything you give will go a long way.
Thank you for all that you do, Joanna and all of us supporting the Freedom United community
