Expedia’s (EXPE) unit Hotels.com said Tuesday that its mobile travel apps have been downloaded over 25 million times globally, setting a milestone for the hotel booking unit.

Hotels.com also says it’s launched a new app specifically for Amazon.com (AMZN) Kindle Fire users.

Expedia is continuing to make mobile app availability development a priority as rivals such as Priceline (PCLN) and China’s Ctrip.com International (CTRP) and metasearch travel website Qunar Cayman Islands (QUNR) also step up their efforts to offer mobile apps to customers.

The new Kindle Fire app lets customers that use that device book hotel accommodations, check reservations, read customer reviews and search for mobile-only deals on the go. The app also lets Hotels.com customers access their Hotels.com Welcome Rewards points account and store payment information.

With the Kindle Fire launch, Hotels.com apps are now available on all mobile devices, including Apple iOS for iPhone and iPad, Google (GOOG) Android and Microsoft (MSFT) Windows Phone.

Expedia stock was down a fraction in midday trading in the stock market today, near 62.40 and near a four-month high of 64.20 that it touched on Friday. Expedia stock roared 18% on Oct. 31 after its Q3 earnings and Q4 forecast beat views, partly making up for a 27% plunge in July after its Q2 report and Q3 guidance disappointed. Expedia stock has an IBD Accumulation/Distribution Rating of B, indicating more institutional buying than selling.
