Exclusive movie premieres this August, only on HBO

A new film debuts every Saturday at 9pm AST*

MIAMI, FL., July 19, 2018 – HBO returns this month with something for everyone and the premiere of four outstanding movies including HBO’s film THE TALE. HBO will broadcast the animated family film LEGO NINJAGO, ROMAN ISRAEL, ESQ. and the horror film IT, inspired by the Stephen King novel of the same name. One new movie premieres every Saturday at 9pm on HBO and HBO GO.

 

LEGO NINJAGO (August 4):

The battle for NINJAGO City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who also secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat the evil warlord Garmadon, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting father against son, the epic showdown tests these fierce but undisciplined modern-day ninjas as they learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash the inner power of Spinjitzu.

 

ROMAN ISRAEL, ESQ. (August 11):

Roman J. Israel, Esq. is set in the underbelly of the overburdened Los Angeles criminal court system. Denzel Washington stars as a driven, idealistic defense attorney whose life is upended when his mentor, a civil rights icon, dies. When he is recruited to join a firm led by one of the legendary man’s former students – the ambitious lawyer George Pierce, played by Colin Farrell – and begins a friendship with a young champion of equal rights (Carmen Ejogo), a turbulent series of events ensue that will put the activism that has defined Roman’s career to the test.

 

IT (August 18)

Seven young outcasts in Derry, Maine, are about to face their worst nightmare – an ancient, shape-shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27 years to prey on the town’s children. Banding together over the course of one horrifying summer, the friends must overcome their own personal fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty clown known as Pennywise.

 

THE TALE (August 25)

Jennifer has it all with a loving boyfriend and a great career as a journalist, professor and documentarian. But when her mother discovers a story that Jennifer wrote when she was 13 detailing a special relationship Jennifer had with two adult coaches, Jennifer returns to the Carolina horse farm where the events transpired to try to reconcile her version of the incidents with the truth.
