Emmy®- And Golden Globe-Winning HBO original series “Game Of Thrones” returns for its sixth season on April 24th

MIAMI, FL – April 19, 2016 – HBO has broken records with Game of Thrones, the most watched series in the history of the channel, which will premiere worldwide its sixth season on April 24th at 21hrs AST*, in addition to a simultaneous transmission on Cinemax. The series, winner of multiple Emmy® and Golden Globe® awards, has conquered the world, with a faithful audience with high expectations for the new season.

The first episode will also be available to the public free of charge beginning April 27th on HBO GO, HBO On Demand, and the HBO app, until May 24th.

Following the shocking developments at the conclusion of the fifth season, including Jon Snow’s bloody fate at the hands of Castle Black mutineers, Daenerys’ near-demise at the fighting pits of Meereen, and Cersei’s public humiliation in the streets of King’s Landing, survivors from all parts of Westeros and Essos regroup to push forward, relentlessly, towards their uncertain individual fates. Familiar faces will forge new alliances to bolster their strategic chances at survival, while new characters will emerge to challenge the balance of power in the east, west, north and south.

New cast members for the sixth season include: Pilou Asbaek, Essie Davis, Souad Faress, James Faulkner, Richard E. Grant, Ian McShane, Joe Naufau, Freddie Stroma and Max von Sydow.
Game of Thrones swept the 2015 Primetime Emmy® awards taking home 12, a record for a series in one year. This is the first time a series of this kind has managed to be so influential, accumulating a magnitude of fame and critical praise in such a way, with an impact on television, production and programming content creation.

Based on the bestselling book series by George R.R. Martin, the hit fantasy series chronicles an epic struggle for power in the vast and violent kingdom of Westeros. The ten-episode sixth season is executive produced by David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield; with secondary executive producers, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis y George R.R. Martin; supervising producer, Bryan Cogman; and producers Chris Newman, Greg Spence and Lisa McAtackney.
