Courtisha Ebanks gets Hon. Mention Award

TISHA 2Courtisha Ebanks has just got named to a Honorable Mention position on the Soccer I All – American Team of the NJCAA for the year 2012 – 2013.

Courtisha plays for South Georgia College as Goal Keeper.

She sent this message:

“I feel accomplished about my award. Of course I had no intentions of playing Goal Keeper, but it happened to be and I do not regret becoming a goal keeper. Earlier, I was a nominee for All-American and the decision was made last week that I was named Honorable All American in Georgia. Having this award as a freshman will give me a great look. Giving me a variety of schools to choose from. It will open many doors for me educationally and professionally.

“My plans for my future in football is to get recruited at a Division 1 school, becoming well recognized throughout the world and becoming professional footballer as well as being able to contribute well to my home team (Cayman Islands National Team) and help us make it to the world cup like we all dreamed of.”

Thiago Cunha, Women’s Technical Director, Cayman Islands Football Association, said after hearing the news:

“I’m very happy for Courtisha Ebanks and all Cayman Islands Women’s national players. They are representing Cayman Islands very well. We worked very hard for it and all Cayman Islands Women’s National team members should be proud of Courtisha Nomination. It’s amazing for a born Caymanian player be named to a Honorable Mention position on the Soccer I All – American Team of the NJCAA for the year 2012 – 2013. I know exactly what Courtisha Ebanks crossed to be there. They are representing these beautiful Islands with pride, honor and love. Education is everything in our lives, when they come back they will be helping our children’s in Cayman Islands.

“We have the responsibility to help Cayman Islands always shine overseas. I explained to all of players the importance to educate themselves and come better.  It’s fantastic to see all of them break barriers and developing so fast. I just want to say thanks CIFA and Government to help those players moving forward with them life.”
