Cayman’s Aaron Jarvis is awarded a Sponsor Exemption into the Butterfield Bermuda Championship

Aaron set to make his first appearance in Bermuda, and third on PGA TOUR

SOUTHAMPTON, BERMUDA (October Day, 2022) The Butterfield Bermuda Championship has awarded one of its 2022 sponsor exemptions to Grand Cayman’s 19-year-old Aaron David Jarvis. Aaron’s debut in Bermuda makes his third PGA TOUR start, and first outside of a major championship (MC/2022 Masters Tournament, T76/2022 The Open Championship).

Jarvis became the first Caymanian to compete in the Masters Tournament after winning the 2022 Latin America Amateur Championship in the Dominican Republic to earn a spot in the field; he also earned a spot in the 150th Open Championship with the victory.

Danielle Baiunco, Director of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, said: “With two globally recognised golf tournaments on his 2022 calendar and an impressive reputation as an upcoming amateur, Aaron attracted our attention back in May. Five months later, we were excited to reach out to Aaron and offer him a sponsors exemption into the field for the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship. This year, our focus has been on giving an opportunity to young and successful players who have worked hard and have an eye on the future. We look forward to welcoming Aaron to Bermuda and we wish him every success.”

Aaron Jarvis commented: “It’s great to be representing Cayman and Caribbean golf and to show the young kids out there that anything is possible. I’m grateful for the opportunity.”

In addition to  Jarvis, the full and final list of sponsor exemptions for the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship includes Akshay Bhatia, John Daly, Jarryd Dillas, Palmer Jackson, Nick Jones, James Nicholas, Michael Sims, Caleb Surratt and Kim Swan.

The Butterfield Bermuda Championship will take place in Bermuda this October 27-30. Watch and follow Jarvis on GOLF Channel as he plays amongst a field of TOUR Professionals next week.
