Cayman: Woman charged and man arrested for Obstructing the Course of Justice

On Friday, 14 October, a woman age 39 of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to obstruct the course of justice, in relation to incidents where she is alleged to have attempted to dissuade a witness from giving evidence in a court case in which the woman is the defendant.

The woman was subsequently formally charged with two counts of Obstructing the Course of Justice and one count of Conspiracy to Obstruct the Course of Justice, for the incidents, which took place on 8 and 9 October.

She appeared in court yesterday, 17 October, and was bailed with conditions pending a further appearance.

A man, age 57 of Bodden Town, was arrested on Saturday, 15 October, on suspicion of conspiracy to obstruct the course of justice. It is alleged that he conspired with the woman, and made contact with the same witness, in order to dissuade them from giving evidence. He has been placed on bail as investigations continue.
