Cayman: Updated COVID-19 Regulations – mandatory wearing of masks inside public buildings and public transport will remain in effecy

Cayman Islands COVID-19 Situational Report (SitRep)

Highlights

International Situation

The number of cases reported to WHO worldwide have continued to decline for the seventh consecutive week. However, the number of COVID deaths (even accounting for differences in death classifications) has not been showing a similar downward trend, which is concerning as it might indicate an increase in both cases and deaths in several countries.

Key Message

COVID-19 regulations are being reviewed with additional lifting of restrictions being planned.
However, the mandatory wearing of masks inside public buildings and public transport will remain in effect given the current increase in positive cases.

Although there has been no significant increase in the number of hospital admissions/deaths registered, the increase in positive cases in the community means there is an increasing number of people in isolation/quarantine. These persons are then unable to attend work/school for a number of days, thus jeopardising optimal functioning of services and ultimately, the society as a whole.
