Cayman – UPDATE: Third Man now Formally Charged with Murder and Wounding with Intent

Update: 14 May

Following his arrest on Thursday 12 May, a 28-year-old-man of George Town has now been formally charged with Murder and Wounding with Intent. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday 16 May.

Anyone with information pertaining to this incident that took place just after 2AM on Friday 5 May at Carib Café on Shedden Road George Town is still encouraged to called the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via our Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or via our website.

A reward is given for tips which lead to an arrest and charge, that are submitted anonymously via the Cayman Crime Stoppers website.

Update: 12 May

A second man, age 26, of Bodden Town, who was arrested on Wednesday, 10 May, has now been formally charged with Murder and Wounding with Intent, following an incident that took place on the 5th May at the Carib Café on Shedden Road, where one man was fatally stabbed and another sustained, what is believed to be serious and life-threatening wounds.

He is appearing in court today, Friday, 12 May.

A third man, age 28, of George Town was also arrested on suspicion of murder and wounding with intent, on Thursday, 11 May in the West Bay Districted. He is currently in custody pending further investigations.

Detectives continue to seek the assistance from the public with information relating to this incident. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact George Town Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 949-4222. Update: 8 May

Police can now confirm the identity of the deceased person as Randy Kelsey Robinson, a 37-year-old of George Town. The RCIPS expresses condolences to the family of the deceased.

The second victim, who received serious injury, remains in hospital at this time and is believed to be in stable condition.

A 22-year-old-man of Bodden Town was arrested on Friday 5 May in relation to this incident.  He has since been formally charged with Murder and Wounding with Intent. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday 9 May.

Detective Superintendent Lansdown says, “This investigation into the murder incident that took place at the Carib Café, in George Town at approximately 2AM on Friday 5th May is still very much an active investigation and continues to be progressed. We are seeking the assistance of the public to identify and locate two other men who were involved in this incident and who remain outstanding at this time. Specifically, we are aware that several persons were at the location at the time of the incident and may have either witnessed the incident itself or interaction amongst the person involved prior to the incident. Any bit of information that you may be able to offer is valuable to the investigation.”

Initial Release: 5 May

Shortly after 2:00AM, Friday 5 May, police and other emergency services responded to a report of a wounding incident on Shedden Road, east of the intersection with Main Street, George Town. 

On arrival at the scene officers observed a male who was unresponsive.  Police proceeded to administer CPR until the arrival of EMS. 

The man, a 37-year-old of George Town, was transferred by ambulance to the hospital Cayman Islands Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased by the attending doctor.

A second injured male, 40 years old, also of George Town was transported to the hospital by private vehicle, with stab wounds.  He has since been discharged.

The matter is currently under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact George Town Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 949-3999.
