Original release:

Single Vehicle Collision in West Bay, 4 November

Just after 12:30AM Sunday morning, 1 November, police were conducting vehicle checks in the vicinity of Yacht Drive, West Bay, when a White Honda Civic approached the check point. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the check point and sped away from the location. A police unit at the location attempted to follow the vehicle using emergency lights and sirens. However, sight was lost of the vehicle. After a short search of the area, the police unit discovered that the vehicle had collided with a wall in the vicinity of Genevieve Bodden Drive, resulting in the vehicle being overturned.

The Cayman Islands Fire Service attended the location to assist on scene and the ambulance also attended the location and transported the driver of the vehicle to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he is believed to be receiving treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 19-year-old-man of West Bay, was warned for intended prosecution for several driving offenses related to this incident. The matter is under investigation.
