Cayman – Update: Man involved in Mangrove Avenue collision now deceased

Update (30 March): 

The 25-year-old man who was involved in the serious collision on Mangrove Avenue on 24 March, is now deceased after succumbing to his injuries yesterday, 29 March. Police can confirm his identity as Mr. Brendon Lee Gayle, a Jamaican National residing in the Cayman Islands.

The RCIPS extends its condolences to the family of the deceased.

Shortly after 3:00AM this morning, Thursday 24 March, emergency services responded to a single vehicle collision on Mangrove Avenue, Prospect.

A single male occupant has sustained serious injuries and has been transported to George Town Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

The collision occurred when the vehicle was travelling north on Mangrove Avenue, before veering off the roadway into a fence and colliding with a utility pole.

The roadway is currently closed while police carry out investigations, and motorists are asked to use an alternate route.  The electricity in the area is also out.  CUC is at the scene carrying out repairs and will restore electricity as soon as possible.
