Cayman: Social workers celebrate together

CAYMAN ISLANDS (GIS) – The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) chose a scenic location for this year’s Social Work Month photo opportunity on Friday, 5 March 2021.

Using historic Smith Cove as a stunning backdrop, members of the social services agency were joined by Ministry of Community Affairs Chief Officer, Ms Teresa Echenique, and Deputy Governor, Hon. Mr. Franz Manderson.

“Social Work Month is a global observance which we are very passionate about committing to in March,” said DCFS Director Mrs. Paulinda Mendoza-Williams.

“The observance’s theme in 2021 is ‘Social Workers are Essential’ and in part reference’s the outstanding commitment and flexibility of the human services sector in the Cayman Islands throughout the pandemic.

Head of the Civil Service, the Deputy Governor said: “The Department of Children and Family Services’ social workers quickly identified innovative ways to provide the essential services that they are relied on to perform in supporting our communities most vulnerable. I am proud at how DCFS acquitted itself during these challenging times.”

As well as the large group shots, staff from Family Services, Community Development Services, Elderly Services, Adoption and Foster Care Services, Youth Services, Family Services, and Senior Management Team took team pictures.
