Cayman: RCIPS, WORC and CBC come together for Interview Skills Training Course

From RCIPS

Earlier this month, instructors from the RCIPS Training and Development Unit hosted a group of Compliance Officers from Workforce Opportunities Cayman, along with a Customs Officer from CI Customs and Border Control, for a week-long course on Interview Technique Skills. The course covered topics including the meaning and admissibility of evidence, statement writing, and suspect interviewing, along with practical exercises that gave the participants an opportunity to show the skills they had learned.

“Although we work in different agencies, there is definitely overlap in the skills we utilize during our enforcement efforts and investigations,” says Acting Interim Director of WORC, Jeremy Scott. “Cross-agency training such as this is important to allow our staff to learn from each other and help develop a consistent approach. We are grateful to the RCIPS for facilitating.”

“We were happy to be involved with our partner law-enforcement agencies, WORC and CBC,” says Police Training Officer James Fordyce, “and we’re hopeful that this Interview Technique Skills course will provide them with additional tools they can utilize as they perform their various roles. The participants were enthusiastic throughout the entire week and shared their own experiences, which always adds to the learning experience for everyone”
The RCIPS also expresses its thanks to the Anti-Corruption Commission for their assistance in providing a member of staff who played the role of an interview subject during the practical exercises, and Mr. Dennis Walkington from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for his contribution to the course.
