Two-Day Mourning Period for Captain Kirkconnell, OBE, JP
29 June 2023 – Captain Eldon E. Kirkconnell, OBE, JP passed peacefully on Thursday, 8 June, at the age of 96.
He served in the Legislative Assembly and the Executive Council of the Cayman Islands from 1962 to 1972, and was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
A member of the uniformed services at the flag lowering ceremony held at the Government Administration Building this morning, 29 June.
In recognition of his significant and sterling service to the Government and people of the Cayman Islands, Captain Kirkconnell will be accorded an official funeral by the Cayman Islands Government.
