Grand Cayman – The Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure (PAHI) has announced that the National Community Enhancement Project (NiCE) will take place from November 28 to December 16.

The NiCE winter project will provide a stipend to unemployed Caymanians and spouses of Caymanians, ages 18 and over who volunteer in a number of areas including the beautification and maintenance of roadside, parks, cemeteries and beaches.

Minister of PAHI Hon. Jay Ebanks stated that he was pleased that the Government, through the Ministry, would be offering the opportunity for Caymanians to volunteer for up to three weeks. “Given the economic challenges some of our people are experiencing, and the additional financial strains of the holiday season, it is good we can provide this opportunity for them at this time,” he said.

He further commented, “The NiCE project since its inception has ensured that Caymanians and residents benefit from a clean and healthy environment. The Ministry will continue to partner with the public and private sector in delivering the programme to provide solutions and improve the well-being of our people in keeping with Government’s broad outcomes”.

A single registration event will be held at the Lions Community Centre, 905 Crewe Road in George Town on Monday, 21 November, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Applicants are required to show proof of immigration status at registration. This includes photo identification and voter card, birth certificate, passport, Caymanian status certificate or stamp in valid passport for Caymanians, and photo identification and Residency with Employment Rights Certificate as the spouse of a Caymanian or stamp in a valid passport for persons married to Caymanians.

Application forms for the NiCE project will be available at all district libraries, Members of Parliament Offices, Needs Assessment Unit, Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman and the public reception desk at the Government Administration Building.
