Cayman: Landfills operations on Public General Holiday

Grand Cayman, 16 September 2022 – The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is advising the public of the early closure of the George Town Landfill operation on Monday 19 September, 2022 which has been declared a Public General Holiday for the purposes of the funeral ceremony of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The George Town Landfill will be closing at 1:00 pm on Monday, 19 September, 2022, resuming normal hours of operation on Tuesday, 20September 2022. There will not be reception of derelict vehicles or scrap metals for disposal on this long weekend. Meanwhile, hours of operation will remain as usual at both landfills in the sister islands.

Regular garbage collection and recycling operations will be as throughout the Cayman Islands during the long weekend.

Members of the public are also encouraged to use the 24-hour drop-off site at the entrance of the George Town landfill which will remain open to facilitate the disposal of small amounts of waste from residential customers, if necessary.
