Cayman Islands Special Economic Zone ramps up outreach to new markets, continues steady growth

While managing steady growth and development, Cayman Enterprise City (CEC), the Cayman Islands’ special economic zone, introduces two new initiatives to its proactive marketing strategy. The zone has launched a series of short videos to help spread the word that “Cayman Enterprise City is Open for Business,” and it has rolled out three stand-alone, geo-specific web pages customized to target niche markets in Canada, India and Israel.

With video playing a significant role in social media today, CEC is using the popular medium to tell zone stories and introduce the people of Cayman Enterprise City – both zone staff members and business owners who have joined the growing creative community.

Vice President of Marketing Hilary McKenzie-Cahill says with 5 parks and multiple benefits, videos allow viewers to quickly understand the CEC message and its products through stories and interviews that can also persuade.

“Video engages potential clients, tickles multiple senses (sound and sight) and it can quickly and efficiently communicate key messages using ‘real’ people in a genuine way. We want our clients to share their stories and experiences with Cayman Enterprise City,” she said.

Cayman Enterprise City has also produced a video specific to the Canadian market where the business development department is targeting the technology, mining and commodities industries.

Shot at various locations on Grand Cayman, including the island’s famed Seven Mile Beach, the videos feature interviews with business owners who have set up in the zone, are enjoying the island lifestyle, and who encourage others to explore the opportunities in the Cayman jurisdiction at Cayman Enterprise City.

CEC’s three geo-specific web pages are the natural next step for the special economic zone as its business development team identifies key markets worldwide. The sites contain introductory zone information relevant to each market and offer quick, easy access to zone solutions and benefits. The goal is to persuade visitors to click through to Cayman Enterprise City’s corporate website for the full story.

Hilary McKenzie-Cahill: “CEC believes in niche marketing. Our offering is as diverse as our audience and this is tricky when one has a global audience. We find that instead of casting a very wide net, we have better success by focusing on a targetable part of a specific market. Our geo-specific sites talk to interested audiences with relevant information that pertains directly to them. This is where much of the visitor conversion takes place so we are collecting prospects from each market.”

Aggressive marketing efforts fuel the zone’s steady growth, and to manage demand from new clients, the zone continues to lease temporary office space in George Town while its new campus is being developed. 123 companies, primarily from the tech industry, have established a physical presence in Cayman Enterprise City to take advantage of Cayman’s tax-neutral jurisdictional; no corporate tax, no income tax and no capital gains tax. One of the world’s leading financial centers, Cayman, a British Overseas Territory with a business friendly government, is an ideal business location and a choice jurisdiction for foreign investment because of its political and economic stability.
