The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service has launched a murder investigation following a shooting incident which occurred in the Martin Drive area of George Town last night Wednesday 1 July 2015 at approximately 11.00pm.

Officers were called to the Globe Bar where a 20 year old male from West Bay, was found with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to his head. Immediate medical attention was provided and the victim transported to the George Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The RCIPS have not yet released the name of the deceased until the family has been consulted. The motive for the shooting is unknown.

A Major Incident Room has been set up at the George Town Police Station and detectives are asking for anyone with any information to contact them at 949.4222 or Crime stoppers on 949 8477 (TIPS).

Police are currently  on the scene of a  Shooting which took place on Martin Drive, George Town. A male victim was reported to have been shot.  Updates to follow.
