, (8, January 2016) The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA) can confirm that an aircraft broke down on the runway at noon today (Friday, 8 January) after landing, which caused the runway at the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) to be temporarily closed while the aircraft was removed.

Upon special inspection of the runway a spill of hydraulic fluid was found. The Airports Authority then reopened the runway, excluding the pavement containing the spill while they worked to clear the spill.

At 1:25pm both outgoing and incoming flights resumed operations. The runway was fully operational by 3:45pm today.
