Cayman Islands: New Insolvency Attorney Joins HSM

Photo - Headshot (Mark Russell)Attorney Mark Russell, who was admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar on 16th March has joined the growing team of lawyers at HSM. With substantive experience in bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring matters, Mark will work closely with HSM Partner, Ian Lambert, practicing in the areas of insolvency, fraud and commercial litigation.

Having previously worked at a top Canadian law firm, Mark has acted as counsel on behalf of creditors, debtors, trustees, receivers and liquidators in various insolvency proceedings. His work has included contentious as well as transactional and advisory roles; with significant experience in mergers, acquisitions and financing.

Photo - Admission (Mark Russell)Admitted to the Newfoundland & Labrador Bar in 2009, Mark completed an LLM with distinction from the University of London in 2014 with a specialisation in International Business Law and from 2010 to 2015 acted as Chair of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Section of the Canadian Bar Association, Newfoundland
& Labrador Branch, where he coordinated annual planning of the Pan-Canadian Insolvency and
Restructuring Law Conference, including speaking and chairing panels on numerous occasions.

Prior to his call to the bar in Canada, Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from
Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario.
