The 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Ivan

Programme of Events

Ivan Remembered sponsored by Fidelity – Exhibition, 6-27 September 2014

Ivan Remembered is an exhibition that commemorates the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Ivan. NGCI curator Natalie Urquhart will work with photographers Courtney Platt and David Wolfe, whose stunning photos of the aftermath of the storm featured in NGCI’s 2004 exhibition Emergence. The exhibition will consist of 24+ fine art photographs, interspersed with quotes from the public remembering their experiences – both challenging and uplifting – during and after Hurricane Ivan. A short film, created by NGCI and Monster Media as part of Emergence and featuring well-known local artists, will also be featured. The development and mounting of the exhibition will also form part of the NGCI Summer Internship programme, which enables student artists and curators to gain hands-on experience of art exhibition development by working alongside an NGCI curator.

While Platt and Wolfe’s work will feature heavily other artists include Sheree Ebanks, Juilie Corsetti, Mary McCallum, Jenna Arnold, and Darvin Ebanks.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, 6 September 2014 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
