Cayman Islands Hospital Children’s Ward benefits from toy donation

Immigration's Christmas Donation to Children's Ward2The Immigration Department on Friday 18th December 2015 took time to deliver presents to the pediatric ward of the Cayman Islands Hospital.

Drives at Immigration Headquarters and its location at Cayman Centre collected more than three boxes and three bags full of toys and books.

Appeals/FOI Clerk Chastine Rankine came up with the idea when her own daughter was sick over Christmas at the Miami Children’s Hospital. That hospital operates a similar programme in partnership with the Miami Dolphins.

“The idea is to allow sick children to celebrate Christmas although they will not be at home with their families and friends,” Mrs. Rankine remarked.

For now the presents remain under the Christmas tree in the Children’s Ward, where they will be distributed a little closer to Christmas, a nurse said.

The Immigration Department’s toy donation programme has been operating for about three years.
