Seniors and Brigaders from the Savannah Company of the Girls’ Brigade chose Fairbanks’ female prisoners as the beneficiaries of their community service project this year.

For the project, which requires them to give back to the community, the girls obtained a list of acceptable toiletries for the prison. They then apportioned among themselves the purchase of these items, including oral care, hair care, skin care, as well as bath and hygiene products, which they packed in a large plastic container for delivery to the inmates.

Her Majesty’s Cayman Islands Prison Service (HMCIPS) Deputy Director (Fairbanks), Ms Claira Range, accepted the donation from some of the Seniors and Brigaders at the United Church in Savannah on Wednesday, 24 September 2014.

“I commend your thoughtful action and sincerely thank you for your generous donation. I assure you this will go a long way, especially as some of the women in Fairbanks don’t have any relatives in the Cayman Islands. They will all appreciate your gifts enormously,” Ms Range commented.

Currently, there are 14 inmates at HMP Fairbanks, she added.

Savannah Brigade Company Captain, Ms Marisa Crawford noted the girls had donated to the Crisis Centre last year for their service project.
