Electricity Cuts Used In Recent Commercial Burglaries

Yesterday, 18 August, Police responded to three reported burglaries at Kingbird Drive, in George Town. The affected premises were Le Bleu (Bottled water Company), Superior Dry Wall and Avalon Marine. In each case, the electrical power had been interfered with before the front doors were forced open. Small amounts of petty cash were taken. Police believe the burglaries occurred sometime between 1AM and 4AM Tuesday morning.

A similar burglary was also committed at Marshalls Car rental, located at Owen Roberts Drive in the early hours of Monday morning, 17 August. Again, the electrical power was interfered with. No property was stolen, and it is believed that the offenders were disturbed. Also in the early hours of Monday morning, a commercial premises, DOCU Centre on Hospital Road, was burgled, with electrical power again interfered with. Petty cash was stolen. Windows were smashed in both burglaries to gain entry.

CCTV shows between two and four men responsible for these burglaries, as well as a woman who is described as thin with big Afro hair. Police believe the burglaries to be linked and that a vehicle was used.

Business owners are advised to check their security in relation to main power switches that are external to the premises.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact George Town CID at 949-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
