Re: Truman Bodden Law School of the Cayman Islands Student Society Annual Gala Event

The Truman Bodden Law School Student Society is very pleased to present its 33rd Annual Gala titled, ‘A Night in Never Never Land,’ a Peter Pan themed event.

On the 24th of April 2015 at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort Ballroom, guests will be transported to a mystical recreation of the Island Never Never Land. Whimsical clouds will be floating throughout the ballroom, transforming it into an authentic recreation of the Hook and Peter Pan stories. The Lost Boys Candy Buffet and a black-lit Mermaid Lagoon will feature sweet treats and nibbles before dinner, while the Big Ben Bar serves complimentary and cash bar cocktails.

Guests will be served a four-course dinner, while enjoying enchanting musical entertainment and a live raffle and auction. We are fortunate to have the Honourable Deputy Governor, Mr. Franz Manderson as the speaker at the event. We are very excited to hear from such a distinguished member of the community and also a former student of our school.

How the Law School will benefit from the support of the community:

The Law School Gala is an essential component in the on-going success of the Law School. The money we raise from donations and support redefine the academic initiatives that help to enhance the law students’ experience on the Island.

Following on from the success of last year’s Gala, the Student Society were able to purchase a new Smart Board in addition to upgrades to our computer lab. The raised funds from this year’s dinner will go towards a number of items, specifically new computers and printers. We feel that this can generally help improve our facilities and aid our students in achieving greater success within their studies and research.

The Student Society is also committed to engaging with the local community. This year we hope that the funds we raise from the Gala will enable us to provide a means-tested grant for a local student. This will be organised by the Student Society with the support of the Law School and advice from the Ministry of Education.

The Gala is not only integral to our fundraising efforts, but is also an excellent opportunity for students to interact with the wider legal community and to gain exposure to professionals in their aspired careers.
