Cayman: DEH Operations for Easter 2024

The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) advises the public that there will be no garbage collection on Good Friday, March 29, 2024. The landfills in Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman will also be closed on this public holiday.

Residential garbage collections will resume in previously uncollected areas on Saturday, March 30, 2024. DEH urges residents to adequately secure their garbage in anticipation of this slight delay in collection services.

All landfills will reopen on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Operations in the George Town landfill will close at 1:00 pm on Easter Monday, April 1, 2024. The 24-hour drop off site at the entrance of the George Town Landfill will, however, remain open to facilitate the disposal of small quantities of household waste. Meanwhile, the Cayman Brac and Little Cayman landfill will close at 5:00 pm as normal.

The public is also advised that derelict vehicles and bulk loads of scrap metal will not be accepted at the George Town Landfill during this long weekend as the contractor in charge of this operation will resume activities on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

The management and staff of the DEH wish everyone a blessed Easter and seek your understanding for any inconveniences caused by this closure.
