Cayman: COVID-19 Update – Friday, 5 November 2021, 194 NEW Positives (86 active cases in Sister Islands),16,671 vaccinations given

Grand Cayman –Chief Medical Officer Dr John Lee reported that there were 1,583 PCR tests conducted in the prior 24 hours.

At 8a.m. the Public Health Department was also reporting 194 positive tests from the community, since their previous report.        

          These results bring the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the Cayman Islands to 1,600.  The total number of cases recorded since the start of the pandemic stands at 2,676.  

In addition there are 12 COVID-19 patients hospitalised in the Cayman Islands, all in stable condition.

At 8 a.m. today Faith Hospital confirmed there were 86 active cases in the Sister Islands, with ten identified in the previous 24 hours. All new cases were from the community. 

          There have also been 116,671 COVID-19 vaccinations given in total in the Cayman Islands.  Of these, 56,908 (80% of 71,106) have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 54,711 (77%) have completed the two-dose course. 

Additionally, 5,052 (representing 27% of those over the age of 50) have had a third or booster dose.
