Cayman: Coronavirus Update 25 March 2020

  • At 7pm tonight the Cayman Islands moved into a period of extended curfew that will continue until 5 am on Saturday 28 March. During this time non-essential  members of the public  are required to remain at home.  Increased police patrols will enforce the measure.
  • Businesses must apply to have the personnel deemed essential by contacting[email protected]. A list of categories and examples of exempted businesses is available  fromhttps://www.exploregov.ky/coronavirus-resources
  • Officials are still working out the details of a shelter in place order, which would allow reasonable movement of persons for essential activities such as access to supermarkets, pharmacies, banks or exercise in groups of one or two. A plan is expected to be presented to the community later this week.
  • Police Commissioner Derek Byrne says first night of curfew went well across all three Islands.Only breaches were on Grand Cayman. One person was arrested and two persons warned.
