Assault on West Bay Road

UPDATE Feb 24 2020 –

Police continue to investigate the assault the took place on Friday 21 February at the Coral Beach. The parties involved were all said to be present between 8:30PM on Friday 21 February and 12:30AM on Saturday, 22 February.

Police are appealing to everyone who was present at this location during this time frame provided, to come forward and provide us with information. The incident is being investigated by a team consisting of a superintendent and detectives within the Criminal Investigations Department.

Just after 12:30AM today, Saturday 22 February police received a report of an incident that took place at a liquor license establishment on West Bay Road.  It was reported that a public figure in the Cayman Islands, had assaulted a female at the location resulting in the her receiving minor injuries. 

The matter is currently being investigated by a Superintendent of RCIPS and anyone with information about this matter is encouraged to contact the George Town Police Station at 949-4222 and ask to speak with the inspector in charge.

One man injured by gunshot wounds in George Town

UPDATE: Feb 25 20202 –

Just before 5PM yesterday, police arrested a 34-year-old-man from George Town who was at the Owen Roberts International Airport preparing to leave the island. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and suspicion of possession of unlicensed firearm in relation to the below incident.

The man is currently being held in custody pending further investigation.

Just after 8:30PM last night, 21 February, police and other emergency services were dispatched to Shedden Road by the 9-1-1 Communication Center, where it was reported that shots were fired at a location resulting in one man being injured.

The injured man was transported to the hospital after suffering from gunshot wounds, and was immediately treated. He remains in the hospital where he is believed to be critical but stable.

The matter is being investigated by Criminal Investigations Department and detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
