In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, America faces a crisis unlike any in its history—more precarious than the Civil War, World War II, Vietnam, the civil rights movement, or 9/11. Society is consuming itself: institutions, norms, and trust are eroding, polarization is totalizing, and leadership is catastrophically incompetent. Using the metaphor of the ouroboros, this essay examines the recursive dangers of ideological violence, disinformation, and global authoritarianism, while offering concrete prescriptions for leaders and citizens alike.
